What is Hospital Indemnity and why should you consider purchasing a policy?
Hospital Indemnity is a policy that pays you cash benefits regardless of any other major medical insurance coverage you may have.
Designed to help fill gaps in coverage (like hospitalization or ambulance co-pays)
Strengthens your financial protection
Helps give peace of mind
So how does it work?
For a quick video presentation, I encourage you to click one of the images below which will link you to your state's available product.
Let's make a few assumptions:
Your Medicare Advantage plan has a $300 per day inpatient hospital copay for days 1-6
You experience a 6-day inpatient hospital stay.
Your out-of-pocket cost share expectation would be $1,800
Because you chose a Hospital Indemnity policy for less than $30 per month* that pays a $300 per day cash benefit for up to 6 days in the event you are hospitalized in an in-patient capacity, you received $1,800 in cash benefits which you then used to pay your hospital co-pays. After 60 days without hospital confinement, your policy resets so you may use your hospital indemnity coverage again in the future!
